Business and Economics Foundation Program Enrollment Guide for International Students (Fall 2023 Semester)

I. Target Applicants
Healthy individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent:
1. International students who wish to enroll in business and economics undergraduate programs at our university or other Chinese universities but have not yet met the Chinese language proficiency requirements.
2. International students who wish to rapidly improve their Chinese language and mathematical skills in a short period.
3. International students planning to take the HSK exam and hope to obtain an HSK level certificate (Level 4-5) through intensive learning in a short period.
II. Program Features
1. Efficient Intensive Learning
The program lasts for 18 weeks, with 34 class hours per week (each class hour is 45 minutes), including 10 class hours of Chinese reading and writing, 10 class hours of comprehensive Chinese, 8 class hours of Chinese listening and speaking, and 6 class hours of mathematics. Through intensive learning, students can quickly improve their Chinese and mathematical skills and meet the entry requirements for most business and economics undergraduate programs in China.
2. Small Class Sizes and Tailored Teaching
Classes are opened with a minimum of 5 students, with about 15-20 students per class.
3. Direct Admission to Our University's Undergraduate Programs without Entrance Exams
Students who obtain an HSK Level 5 certificate and pass the foundation program's final exam with satisfactory results, in compliance with the university's relevant regulations, can be admitted to our university's undergraduate programs without entrance exams and are exempted from the application fee.
4. Priority Recommendation for Shanghai Foundation Program Full Scholarship
Students with HSK Level 4 Chinese proficiency and academic performance meeting the undergraduate admission criteria can be prioritized for the Shanghai Foundation Program Full Scholarship (covering tuition, living expenses, and accommodation fees). This scholarship is funded by the Shanghai Municipal Government. Students will receive one year of Chinese language training at Shanghai Normal University before entering our university for four years of undergraduate study.
5. National Foundation Training Base
Our university was approved as a Business and Economics Foundation Training Base for the Chinese Government Scholarship by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in 2019. In recent years, the pass rate for our Chinese Government Scholarship foundation program has been close to 100%.
6. Prime Location
Our campus is located in Yangpu District, Shanghai, at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Station on Metro Line 18, just a 5-minute walk from Metro Line 3. Wujiaochang Shopping Center is also nearby, and various transportation options provide convenient access to the Bund and People's Square.
III. Teaching Arrangement
There are basic and advanced classes, with classes starting when there are at least 5 students.

IV. Program Fees
Application Fee | 415 RMB |
Tuition Fee | 15,000 RMB/semester |
Textbook Fee | 200-300 RMB/semester |
The following expenses are not covered:
1. Fees for applying for a visa or residence permit to China
2. Round-trip transportation costs to Shanghai
3. Meal costs, living expenses, and other personal expenses
4. Optional short-trip travel expenses
V. Admission Requirements
General Requirements
Foreign citizens aged 18 or above, with a high school diploma or equivalent, and in good physical and mental health.
Language Proficiency Requirements
Basic Class: HSK Level 3 or 300 hours (6 months) of Chinese language study
Advanced Class: HSK Level 4 or 600 hours (1 year) of Chinese language study

1. Valid passport front page (valid from the date of application until July 30, 2024)
2. HSK certificate or proof of Chinese language study hours
3. Proof of application fee payment (transfer record or payment receipt)
4. Personal photo
5. High school diploma and transcripts

2. Log in to the university application website (http://ao.sufe.edu.cn), fill in the application information, and upload the application materials
3. The university conducts a qualification review
4. Receive the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202 form), and apply for a visa to China at the Chinese embassy
5. Complete the registration procedures at the university on the specified date
6. Orientation and handling visa and other foreign affairs procedures
7. Program begins
The application fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether the applicant is admitted or not.
