Detailed Rules on Evaluation of Scholarship for
International Advanced Students
The ‘Scholarship of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for the International Students’ is established so as to encourage and endow the international students excellent in both character and studies, and to inspire their motivation and positive spirit.
1. Individual Scholarship
Various individual scholarships are specially set by the school for students distinguished in some aspects so as to promote and encourage their development.
1) Time of Evaluation
Individual scholarships are evaluated once every school semester, the specific time set at the end of each semester.

1. Excellent Academic Performance Scholarship;
2. Full Attendance Scholarship;
3. Excellent Student Cadre Scholarship
3) Evaluation Method
1. Excellent Academic Performance Scholarship
Language students and general advanced students whose average academic scores for all the courses at the term final exams rank the first top two in each class are selected as candidates for the scholarship. The proportion of the scholarship winners is decided on by the number of examinees in each class participating in the term exams. The Scholarship Evaluation Panel of the International Cultural Exchange College shall select and commend the winners.
2. Full Attendance Scholarship
Language students and general advanced students whose attendance in the school term is 100% are selected as candidates for the scholarship. The Scholarship Evaluation Panel of the International Cultural Exchange College shall select and commend the winners.
3. Excellent Student Cadre Scholarship
Language students and general advanced students who have acted as cadres of the Student Union or class monitors in the school term and who are able to attend meetings organized by the Student Affairs Department as scheduled, active in the assistance in the school and faculty organized activities, and outstanding in work performances are selected as candidates for the scholarship. The Scholarship Evaluation Panel of the International Cultural Exchange College shall select and commend the winners.
4) Operational Procedure for Scholarship Evaluation
The Individual Scholarship is recommended by the class teacher in accordance with the evaluation criteria, and the Business Chinese Department is responsible for the examination and determination of the winners.
2. Term Scholarship
1) Time of Evaluation
Term Scholarship is evaluated once every school term, the specific time being March and October each year.
2) Application Qualification
1. Language advanced students and general advanced students who are officially registered in this school and who have been studying for more than one school semester shall have the right to apply for scholarship (except the Chinese Government Scholarship student and Shanghai Government Scholarship student).
2. The student shall not participate in the scholarship evaluation for the year if any of the following applies:
1. The student has failed in one course.
2. The accumulative truancy rate of the student in one course is higher than 15%.
3. The student has been awarded a disciplinary sanction such as criticism in a circulated notice or a more serious penalty or other disciplinary sanction during the semester.
4. The student has delayed in payment of tuition.
3. The student who has been awarded a sanction more serious than a record of demerit shall not participate in the evaluation.
3) Scholarship Grade, Amount and Number
First Award: RMB4,000 per student every semester;
10% of all winners;
Second Award: RMB2,000 per student every semester;
30% of all winners;
Third Award: RMB1,000 per student every semester;
60% of all winners.
4) Evaluation Method
The evaluation of the Semester Scholarship is based on the assessment of the aspects of morality and intelligence. Score addition or deduction depends on the actual circumstances, the upper limit score addition being 3 and the score deduction limitless.

Evaluation Content and Criteria:
1 Morality Score
1)Clear in learning purpose, right attitude toward learning and excellent in studies.
2)Conscientious in observation of Chinese laws, school discipline and rules, classroom discipline, dorm-room rules, library management and dining-room rules.
3)Cultured and polite, respectful to teachers, able to unite classmates, initiative in care for others, helpful to others, strictly self-disciplined, lenient with others, faithful and honest, conscientious in care for public properties and campus environment, compliant to social morality and public order, and diligent and thrifty.
4)Active in participation in various school-organized activities and public-welfare activities.
5)Evaluation by the class teachers or course teachers.
2. Intelligence Score
Intelligence Score = Semester Average Score x 0.7
Note:Semester Scholarship language advanced student and general advanced student shall meet the following requirements:
1) The courses enrolled last term are not less than three (inclusive of three);
2) The single course score is above 80 (inclusive of 80);
3) The attendance rate is not lower than 85%.
3. Score Addition and Deduction
Generally speaking, the student should present to the Student Affair Department the relevant certificate or document for each award won in an activity.
1. Addition Principle
1) Individual Sport, Literature and Art Score
Municipal-level Individual Award: 2 Scores Added;
School-level Individual Award: 1-1.5 Scores Added;
Faculty-level Individual Award: 0.5-1 Score Added.
2) Qualified School (Faculty) Student Cadre Score
School (Faculty) Student Cadre: 0-1 Score Added;
Class Cadre: 0-0.5 Scores Added.
3)Competition Score
National Competition Third Prize and Higher: 3 Scores Added;
Provincial or Municipal Competition Third Prize and Higher: 2 Scores Added.
4) Note: The upper limit total added shall not exceed 3 scores.
2. Deduction Principle
1-3 scores are to be deducted if the student is criticized by the Faculty (Department) in a circulated notice.
5. Operational Procedure for Scholarship Evaluation
1. Qualified language advanced student or general advanced student shall complete the ‘Scholarship Application Form’, which is to be submitted to the Student Affairs Department of the International Cultural Exchange College.
2. Items 1 and 5 shall be completed by the class teacher or the course teacher. Items 2, 3 and 4 shall be completed by the instructors of the Student Affairs Department. The intelligence score shall be given by the instructors of the Education Department. The award and penalty score shall be given by the instructors of the Student Affairs Department.
3. The Scholarship Evaluation Panel for International Students of the International Cultural Exchange College shall make a public announcement of the winners according to the actual applications by the international students and the comprehensive evaluation results, which will be submitted to the higher authority for approval.
6. Supplementary Provisions:
1. The ‘Detailed Rules on Evaluation of Scholarship for International Advanced Students’ is to be implemented beginning from the date of its announcement.
2. The ‘Detailed Rules on Evaluation of Scholarship for International Advanced Students’ is formulated with reference to the ‘Implementation Rules of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on Scholarship Evaluation’.
3. The International Cultural Exchange College of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is responsible for the interpretation of the ‘Detailed Rules on Evaluation of Scholarship for International Advanced Students’.
