Rules on Selection of Excellent International Graduates and Excellent International Graduate Cadres

(Revised in June 2012)

To set advanced models, incite the aggressiveness of the entire international students, enhance their overall quality, and promote their convergence integration with the Chinese students, this ‘Rules on Selection of Excellent International Graduates and Excellent International Graduate Cadres’, with reference to the ‘Rules on Selection of Excellent Chinese Graduates’, is hereby formulated.

1.    Selection Condition

1)    The international student proves to be respectful to his teachers, able to unite his classmates, able to observe the Chinese laws and the school rules and regulations, and free from any administrative sanction during his studies in China;

2)    The international student works hard, outstanding in academic results and strong in research capacity; and has been awarded at least one scholarship or has published at least one research paper;

3)    The international student is active in participation in the various activities organized by the school or the college or the faculty, and in various kinds of physical exercises, healthy in both physical condition and psychological quality;

4)    Excellent graduate cadres are selected, on the basis of their performances at school and the opinions of the teachers and students, from among the excellent graduates.

2.    Selection Object

All the international graduates studying at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

       3.    Selection Number

International students are generally not involved in the selection of Shanghai Excellent Graduates;

The number of the school-level excellent graduates shall, in general, not exceed 5% of the total number of the international graduates.

The number of the school-level excellent graduate cadres shall, in general, not exceed 10% of the total number of the international graduate cadres.

       4.    Selection Procedure

Selection is subject to the leadership of the Excellent International Graduates Selection Working Group and under the responsibility of the International Cultural Exchange College.

The principal method is as follows:

Based on the self-recommendation and faculty nomination, the International Cultural Exchange College together with the student’s faculty performs the preliminary examination, the result of which is made public at the college (faculty, department), seeking for opinions; the list of the candidates selected at the preliminary examination is submitted to the Student Affairs Department for evaluation on the school level, the result of which is then made public in the whole school; opinions are sought for and collected; and the school issues a document.

The principle of openness, fairness and impartiality shall be strictly adhered to and the quality-based priority assured in the selection.

5.    Award Method

Certificate of Award is issued to the winning student and the relevant documents will be archived.
