Application Document Checklist (2023 Fall Entry)
For 2023 admission cycle, the application documents in hard copies are not required. Please scan and upload them in the Upload Materials section of the Applicant Portal. This is the most efficient and direct method of submitting these materials, because they will be added directly to your official application.
All first-year applicants must complete the application form along with the required supplements. You will need to scan and submit:
1. Photo
Please use the ID photo taken within the last 6 months. The head in the photograph must be facing the camera straight on, and the face may not be obscured. The photo itself must be in color, but the background needs to be white or blue. Head coverings are prohibited.
2. Passport identification page
Your passport should be valid beyond January 31, 2024.
3. High school diploma
If you are in the final year, please upload a certificate indicating the entry and the expected completion date.
4. High school academic transcript
You need to apply with academic transcript for all the courses taken from high school grade one. It would be appreciated that the transcript is attached with a clarification on the grading system and how your GPA is calculated.
5. University academic transcript (for current or former university student only)
6. High school graduation/college entrance exam results (for applicants of written exam exemption only)

7. HSK result slip and certificate
Please note: HSK result is valid for two years from the date of the test.
8. Personal statement
It should be written in Chinese, 800-1000 words including the applicant's education (and working experience, if applicable), study plan, etc. and enclosed with the applicant's signature.
9. One reference letter
The letter should be recent, dated, in English/Chinese, and with referee's contact details (employer, position, email, phone number). If you cannot upload the letter by yourself, please use an explanation letter and ask the referee to send the letter to ices@mail.sufe.edu.cn before the application deadline.
10. Police Clearance Certificate
A Police Clearance Certificate, known in other names such as Police Certificate, Criminal History Record Check, certifying that the applicant has never partaken in any criminal activity that led to the involvement of the police force. Please go to your local police authority where you reside, request that the police conduct a local or state criminal records search and provide you with a document reflecting that there is no history of a criminal record. The Police Clearance Certificate should be dated within the last 6 months.
If you are unable to maintain such a document due to the pandemic or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact Admission Office as early as possible for alternative documentation.
11. Guarantee of Financial Support
Your personal sponsor should be able to provide full financial support for your educational and living expenses for the entire length of study at SUFE. Ask your personal sponsor to complete the appropriate sections of the form
Guarantee of Financial Support.pdf and provide a scanned copy of his/her passport, or ID card if the sponsor is of Chinese nationality. The form you submit must:
n Provide correct and complete information
n Include with the signature of the sponsor, and
n Be written in English or Chinese
12. Foreigner's Physical Examination Report (required for those planning to apply for scholarship)
The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the“Foreigner Physical Examination Form”
Foreigner Physical Examination Form.pdf. The form you submit must:
n Include with the signature of the attending physicians
n Include with the official stamp of the hospital
n Include with a sealed photograph of the applicant
n Be written in English, and
n Be dated within the last 6 months.
Please keep the original reports with you for later use when you register at the University.
13. Certificates recognizing awards & merits (if any)
14. Certificates of your foreign nationality (if you have acquired foreign nationality by birth but have studied at primary and secondary schools in China and have at least one parent who is Chinese, or have immigrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to another country)
You need to upload the foreign passport(s) you have held, proof of entry-exit and stay (residency) in China (Chinese mainland, Macao, Taiwan, Hongkong) in the past four years (April 30, 2019 – April 30, 2023).
15. Chinese visa/residence permit (for applicant living in the Chinese mainland only)
Please note:
* Certified English/Chinese translations are required if the original documents are neither in English nor in Chinese.
* The Admission Office will look for evidence for predicted qualification is realistic.
* If you are admitted, you must be able to produce the original copy of the uploaded document for verification upon request during the matriculation in September 2023. If any falsehood is found, SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission.
