Application requirements

General: non-Chinese citizen, 18-35 years old, in good health with valid passport.

Academic qualification: Applicants must have received, or expect to receive by the summer before their matriculation at SUFE in September 2023, a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. 

Language Proficiency: HSK5 (a minumum overall 180)

Applcation process 

Applications can be received from January 1, 2023 for entry in September 2023. 

We will consider applications up to March 10, 2023. 

Follow the steps belorw and complete the application processs.

1. Remit the unrefundable application fee (CNY830).  

Only bank transfer is accepted.  

If payment is made in China, please fill in with payee's information in Chinese.

If payment is made outside the Chinese mainland, please fill in with payee's information in English.

2. Register and submit application online

Application must be made online at http://ao.sufe.edu.cn.

The application opens from January 1, 2023 to March 10, 2023.

3. Check the application status in case other supplementary documents are needed

To access the most up-to-date information available, you should log into the application portal with the same username and password you used to create your online application. Admission Office may contact you for status update via email during the review process. Please do remember to check regularly the email box with which you register for an account at http://ao.sufe.edu.cn

Supporting documents 

(Scan and upload in the application portal. Paper documents are not required during 2023 admission circle.)   

1. Photo 

Please use the ID photo taken within the last 6 months. The head in the photograph must be facing the camera straight on, and the face may not be obscured. The photo itself must be in color, but the background needs to be white or blue. Head coverings are prohibited. 

2. Passport identification page

Your passport should be valid beyond January 31, 2024.

3. Certificate of your highest academic level

Applicants of master’s program should upload bachlor's degree certificate. If you are in the final year, please upload a certificate indicating the program details and the expected completion date.

4. Academic transcript 

You need to apply with academic transcript for all the courses taken from bachelor year one. It would be appreciated that the transcript is attached with a clarification on the grading system and how your GPA is calculated.

5. Chinese proficiency certification

You should have a valid HSK 5/6 certification (minimum requirement HSK 5: 180).

* If the previous degree is taught in Chinese, an official certificate can replace HSK.

6. Study/Research plan

It should be written in Chinese, at least 1000 words, and enclosed with your signature.

7. Two reference letters

Each graduate program applicant should have two references from academic source (professor or associate professor).  

The letters should be recent, dated, in English/Chinese, and with referee's contact details (employer, position, email, phone number). 

If you cannot upload the letter(s) by yourself, please use an explanation letter and ask the referees to send the letters to ices@mail.sufe.edu.cn before application deadline.

8. Police Clearance Certificate  

A Police Clearance Certificate, known in other names such as Police Certificate, Criminal History Record Check, certifying that the applicant has never partaken in any criminal activity that led to the involvement of the police force. Please go to your local police authority where you reside, request that the police conduct a local or state criminal records search and provide you with a document reflecting that there is no history of a criminal record. The Police Clearance Certificate should be dated within the last 6 months.

If you are unable to maintain such a document due to the pandemic or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact Admission Office as early as possible for alternative documentation.

9. Guarantee of Financial Support

Your program application will not be processed without a funding documentation.

Your personal sponsor should be able to provide full financial support for your educational and living expenses for the entire length of study at SUFE. Ask your personal sponsor to complete the appropriate sections of the form and provide a scanned copy of his/her passport, or ID card of the sponsor is of Chinese nationality. The form you submit must:

n  Provide correct and complete information

n  Include with the signature of the sponsor, and 

n  Be written in English or Chinese 

10. Chinese visa/residence permit (for applicant living in the Chinese mainland only)

11. Foreigner's Physical Examination Report (required if you plan to apply for scholarship)

The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the“Foreigner Physical Examination Form”. The form you submit must:

n  Include with the signature of the attending physicians

n  Include with the official stamp of the hospital

n  Include with a sealed photograph of the applicant

n  Be written in English, and 

n  Be dated within the last 6 months. 

Please keep the original reports with you for later use when you register at the University.

If you are unable to conduct physical examination due to the pandemic or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact Admission Office as early as possible for alternative documentation.

12. Certificates recognizing awards & merits (if any)

Please note:

* Certified English/Chinese translations are required if the original documents are neither in English nor in Chinese.

* The Admission Office will look for evidence for predicted qualification is realistic.

* If you are admitted, you must be able to produce the original copy of the uploaded document for verification upon request during the matriculation in September 2023. If any falsehood is found, SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission.

ADMISSION 

Document screening

When we receive your application, the Admission Office will endeavor to deal with your application as promptly and efficiently as possible.

Each application is considered individually and careful consideration is given to all the information supplied. In assessing your applications the Admission Office is looking for:

-evidence that you meet the general entry requirements

-evidence that you have the correct and relevant qualifications for the program

-evidence that you have an interest in the subject for which you applied from your personal statement and letters of reference

-evidence from your reference that your predicted grades are realistic

Admission assessement 

Applicants need to take the admission assessments (evaluative interview in most cases) in middle March 2023. The Admission Office will inform the applicants of the entrance examination arrangement via email. You will be evaluated by the individual school/college which offers the program you intend to register for prior performance and academic potential.

View the admission decision

Admission decision is made on the basis of the applicants' academic accomplishment, personal qualities and other factors, as evidenced by their academic records, letters of recommendation, and entrance exam. Applicants can check the admission decision through the applicant portal http://ao.sufe.edu.cn.

* Phone inquiries are not accepted.

Accept the offer

If pre-admitted, you will need to confirm whether or not accepting the offer via the online application portal by June 15, 2023.

* Those who do not confirm the enrollment online will be considered rejecting SUFE's offer.

Get your admission package

The admission package will be sent out from July 2023.

* Please clearly indicate in the appplication form your contact information (address, phone number) for receiving the admission package.
