How to Apply
There is a two-stage application process which involves applying for entry to the graduate program at SUFE, then applying separately to the CSC for the scholarship after being informed about the University admission decision outcomes.
Apply Process
Stage 1: Apply for a graduate program at SUFE (January 1, 2023-March 10, 2023)
Visit the SUFE ICES website for the list of graduate programs and for information, confirm the specific entry requirements, application process and required documentation for your application before starting the online application.
Remit the unrefundable application fee (CNY830/1660).
Only bank transfer is accepted.

Submit the program application through SUFE Applicant Portal http://ao.sufe.edu.cn/
Register at SUFE Applicant Portal http://ao.sufe.edu.cn/. Log into your account, search for and add an application for the graduate program you wish to apply for.
Under the Financial Support of the online application, please indicate that you plan to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship - University Program. This is important as it will help us identify that you are interested in the scholarship.
Stage 2: Apply to the CSC for the scholarship (middle March 2023)
SUFE Admission Office reviews your application submitted through SUFE Applicant Portal. If shortlisted, you are required to take the evaluative interview (online interview) conducted by SUFE. If you receive an offer of a place from SUFE, you will need to apply separately to the CSC for the scholarship and follow the CSC application process. CSC applications must be submitted online on the CSC website (http://www.campuschina.org).
Documents
1. Photo
Please use the ID photo taken within the last 6 months. The head in the photograph must be facing the camera straight on, and the face may not be obscured. The photo itself must be in color, but the background needs to be white or blue. Head coverings are prohibited.
2. Passport identification page
Your passport should be valid beyond January 31, 2024.
3. Certificate of your highest academic level

If you are in the final year, please upload a certificate indicating the program details and the expected completion date.
4. Academic transcript
You need to apply with academic transcript for all the courses taken from bachelor year one. It would be appreciated that the transcript is attached with a clarification on the grading system and how your GPA is calculated.
5. Language proficiency certification
For applicants of English-taught programs
If you are not from an English-speaking background, you need to meet the English Language requirements through IELTS, or TOEFL at the grades specified, TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS (A) 6.5 overall.
* If the previous degree is taught in English, an official certificate can replace TOEFL/IELTS .
For applicants of Chinese-taught programs
You should have a valid HSK 5/6 certification (minimum requirement HSK 5: 180).
* If the previous degree is taught in Chinese, an official certificate can replace HSK.
6. Study/Research plan
It should be written in the instrucitonal language of your intended program, at least 1000 words, and enclosed with the applicant's signature.
7. Two reference letters
Each graduate program applicant should have two references from academic source (professor or associate professor).
The letters should be recent, dated, in English/Chinese, and with referee's contact details (employer, position, email, phone number).
If you cannot upload the letter(s) by yourself, please use an explanation letter and ask the referees to send the letters to ices@mail.sufe.edu.cn before application deadline.
8. Police Clearance Certificate
A Police Clearance Certificate, known in other names such as Police Certificate, Criminal History Record Check, certifying that the applicant has never partaken in any criminal activity that led to the involvement of the police force. Please go to your local police authority where you reside, request that the police conduct a local or state criminal records search and provide you with a document reflecting that there is no history of a criminal record. The Police Clearance Certificate should be dated within the last 6 months.
If you are unable to maintain such a document due to the pandemic or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact Admission Office as early as possible for alternative documentation.
9. Guarantee of Financial Support
Your program application will not be processed without a funding documentation.
Your personal sponsor should be able to provide full financial support for your educational and living expenses for the entire length of study at SUFE. Ask your personal sponsor to complete the appropriate sections of the form and provide a scanned copy of his/her passport, or ID card of the sponsor is of Chinese nationality. The form you submit must:
n Provide correct and complete information
n Include with the signature of the sponsor, and
n Be written in English or Chinese
10. Chinese visa/residence permit (for applicant living in the Chinese mainland only)
11. Foreigner's Physical Examination Report
The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the“Foreigner Physical Examination Form”. The form you submit must:
n Include with the signature of the attending physicians
n Include with the official stamp of the hospital
n Include with a sealed photograph of the applicant
n Be written in English, and
n Be dated within the last 6 months.
Please keep the original reports with you for later use when you register at the University.
If you are unable to conduct physical examination due to the pandemic or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact Admission Office as early as possible for alternative documentation.
12. Certificates recognizing awards & merits (if any)

SUFE will send the certificate to those who meet the program eligibility criteria and pass the admission assessment (interview).
Please note:
Certified Chinese/English translations are required if the original documents are neither in English nor in Chinese.
The Admission Office will look for evidence for predicted qualification is realistic.
If you are admitted, you must be able to produce the original copy of the uploaded document for verification upon request during the matriculation in September 2023. If any falsehood is found, SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission.
Selection Process
It is important to note that during the selection process:
The eligibility criteria will be applied automatically, using the details you provide in the relevant sections of the application form (for example, your country of ordinary residence and your previous education institutions).
CSC reviews and evaluates scholarship candidates' application and decides the name list of scholarship winners.
The scholarship is awarded based on merits (academics, test scores, extracurricular activities, community service, etc), not on your need for financial aid.
Scholarship Outcomes
The name list of scholarship winners comes out in late June or in July. SUFE will inform you via email if your name is in the list and deliver the admission package (Admission Notice, the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China (JW201 Form) , etc) by post.
* The time line of the selection process is subject to change according to CSC's workflow.
* The CSC reserves the rights to decide the host university for scholarship winners. Each scholarship winner, including those with admission offers from different universities, will be granted no more than one scholarship.
* Scholarship winners shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study stipulated on the Admission Notice.
* SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission and the scholarship will be cancel as well if:
you fail to register for 2023 fall intake on the registration day (see on the Admission Notice).
